Text Box: ChopperDave promised to explain why there is air in last month’s column. With some of the photos submitted this month, it has become clear that some basic digital photography education may serve the readers better. For example, let’s discuss

Welcome to the Ride!

Text Box: The Bike of the Month for October is finally a V-rod. Personally, ChopperDave thinks this picture of the bike simply looks better than it’s ever looked. The 'ROD is one slick low 'n slow boulevard poser that has become a staple for the modern RUB*. With a 100+HP mill that will pull from 2000 revs in top gear courtesy of the spot-on fuel injection and engine management system, you can pop 'er into high and lug around town with a fresh Winston dangling from your lip. But if touring’s your thing, then it’s faux gas tank will have you watching aghast as the gauge freefalls while the miles click off. But don’t whine into your double latte just yet, ‘cause at nearly every fuel stop, someone will look at you and give you an obligatory, “nice bike”. And let’s face it, that’s WHY you bought the thing.

The trees reflecting off the lake near St John’s University make a nice backdrop for the Thanksgiving edition of the Bike of the Month.

the picture at left.  First things first.  What is this a picture of?  An aging banker with a leather fetish?  A scenic lake reflecting fall’s spendor?  Or was the photographer trying to capture the sleek lines of Willie G’s Porsche-Design, motorcycle?  I can’t tell.  Here’s some tips for you budding photog’s that are going to submit a picture to ChopperDave:

· Unless ChopperDave or a scantily-clad biker chick is astride the motorcycle, it may be best to have the rider stand behind you when taking a picture of a bike.

· If you are taking a  picture for “Country” magazine, leave the V-Rod out...it’s distracting.

· Maybe take a giant step backwards and include the whole motorcycle in the picture.  (Pressing the “-” button on your camera may work also)

Just trying to help.  Now let’s ride!
