Chopper’s Today |
|
This month, we have two prospective members of the club. It appears this banana-colored, Suzuki rider is signaling “1 more lap” to the riders behind him. Someone should tell him the white flag gives the riders plenty of warning.
Our second prospect is the little animated picture in the upper right corner. This little guy appears to be signaling “single file” to the riders behind him. This is an important safety signal when approaching corners at a high rate of speed.
Safety first!

ChopperDave had the good fortune of playing a practice round with Freddie Couples (see picture) on Sunday night, before Couples took part in the ING Par 3 Shootout at Treetops Resort in Northern Michigan. For Monday morning’s Pro-Am event, ChopperDave was paired with ESPN analyst Billy Kratzert (4 Tour Victories, Indiana golf Hall of Famer) and the group was able to get to 6 under on the Par 3 Threetops course, tying second place. Chris DiMarco’s group finished at 19 for the day. At the first tee, Kratzert hit first, then ChopperDave, followed by Mitchell Andrews whose shot beat ChopperDave’s shot that ended 10 feet past the hole, by ending up in the cup. It was the first hole in one witnessed by ChopperDave.

After carding a 1 and with Kratzert’s guidance, the group birdied only 4 of the next 8 to card a 21, which was good enough for second place. On Tuesday, Freddie Couples sunk a 5 footer with $200K riding on it to win the ING Par 3 shootout, pocketing $300,000 in total for the two day, made for TV event. Andy North, Chris DiMarco and Craig Stadler also played in the event which was broadcast on ESPN. ChopperDave sends a big “THANK YOU” for everyone involved with making his trip to Treetops Resort, the golf, and his trip home a reality. |
