Chopper’s Today

Text Box: What TO Wear
In the past, Choppers Today has included a “What Not to Wear” feature. This month, the editors have turned the tables and are bringing a bit of helpful advice for fledgling bikers.
If there’s not a cloud in the sky and your mind begins to wander towards taking a nice ride around a really big lake and the forecast is for gale-force winds and 90 degree temperatures, you should wear something to cover your forehead. Don’t think you will be called names because you want to protect your head from certain, cancer-causing, sun and windburn. Maybe use your head (while you still have one) and throw on a little SPF 1000 or maybe a doo-rag or two to cover all exposed upward and forward-facing surfaces of your melon. If you can stand the heat, maybe use that $250 brain bucket and just deal with a bead of sweat or two.
After peeling most of the skin from my forehead for the third time (and forearms too for that matter), I can offer this bit of advice: Wear something over your skin. (this story continues on page 3).

May was a good month for riding in Minnesota.  One of the best rides was ChopperDave’s ride with Tiny and the Triple-V around Lake MilleLacs.  Temperatures soared into the mid-90’s later in the day, but the north-shore ride along Highway 18 was spectacular.

As the day progressed, it got windier with the south wind gusting to nearly 40 mph.

ChopperDave is still recovering from the skin grafts needed to replace the  skin on his forehead.

Text Box: Bike of the Month

Welcome to the Ride!

The 05 Road King Custom is a fine bike for cruising around the most scenic roads wherever you live.  Note the lack of any wind protection as well as the black and chrome paint scheme which does wonders reflecting the sun’s rays up to your forehead if you “forget” to wear your ‘doo-rag.
