ChopperDave Caught by Police

Text Box: Last month, ChopperDave reported a mail scam being perpetrated in the area. A letter requesting $1,000.00 per rider for a tour of the Sioux Falls area was circulated. This letter IS a scam. ChopperDave’s research proved correct as there are no good roads in the southeast area of South Dakota. The leader of this scam was exposed as a newlywed college student who pissed someone off enough that they ran over his crotch-rocket. Perhaps, the college student will finally realize the error of his ways, purchase some fine Milwaukee Iron and be immune from these attacks. Other crotch rocket pilots seemed to steer clear of the Sioux Falls area altogether. Maybe our roving reporters will uncover some additional facts in the coming weeks regarding the absence of some bikers.

September 16, 2006 - During his visit to J&L Harley Davidson in Sioux Falls, ChopperDave was caught in this picture by a Sioux Falls Police department cycle.   Although it appears that ChopperDave was apprehended, the editors of ChoppersToday want to squelch any rumors by stating that ChopperDave was merely admiring yet another RoadKing.  This visit was part of “ChopperDave’s Vtwins to Vermillion Venture”.

Friday’s trip to Sioux Falls held it’s share of perils.  If you’ve ever ridden highway 23 west of Willmar, you know that it can be windy.  Well, how about 40 mph gusts with a little rain?  Did I say a little rain?  How about a lot of rain and throw in some cloud to ground lightning.  Now your getting the idea.  Near Pipestone  is the second highest point in Minnesota and there are more windmills than people.  I suppose there’s a reason for all those windmills.  ChopperDave’s only comment after the rain subsided was, “Well, at least we didn’t die.”

The weekend forecast didn't look any better.  “Clearing Saturday morning, before severe thunderstorms develop, followed by clusters of tornados.  Then Sunday look for a little snow in the higher elevations”.  Let’s ride!

The weatherman was wrong on the snow...but it was a bit nippy in the morning for Sunday’s ride up

I-29.  Once the group turned east and put the wind at their back, the ride turned fun again.
